Over the last few years we have seen the major Software vendors of the world
such as Microsoft, Blackberry, Symbian, Palm, etc. desperately fighting to
get their "OS" (operating-systems) on these devices.
Similarly, many global Computer & Communication hardware manufacturers
are focusing their designs on smaller, more powerful "wearable-type-products"
that will duplicate a current desktop or laptop environment.
In the Textile & Apparel industry, many manufacturers are designing future
lines of what will be known as "electronic fabric", as well as lines of clothing
and accessories that will both "compliment & interact" with these consumer
electronic devices.
Lastly, in the Healthcare & Medical Industry, there is an evolution taking
place in the way Doctors, Medical Professionals and various Pharmaceutical
companies will deal with their patients. Doctors around the world have been
trading in their pens and pads and adopting PDAs. Along with keeping any
notes and patient stats, a growing number of hospitals are also deploying
"Wireless LANs"(using 802.11 aka WiFi) for real-time doctor-patient updates
& interaction. In the near future we will see products that will be able to
remotely monitor a patient's vital signs and even administer their medication.
Products like this will be using a combination of the latest developments
in "Wireless", future Nano-or-Bio Technologies and Body-Wear to address
patient issues.
